Hypertension

According to recent studies, about one third of the American adult population have some degree of hypertension. A large portion of this group has gone undiagnosed, whether it stems from not having a primary care physician or lack of frequent testing. Symptoms tend to be unnoticeable until the situation becomes much more severe. Left untreated, those with high blood pressure are at risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardio-related diseases.

Symptoms

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Confusion
  • Vision changes
  • Nosebleed
Hypertension

All adults should have their blood pressure checked every 1 to 2 years if their blood pressure was less than 120/80 mmHg at their most recent reading.

If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, kidney problems, or certain other conditions, have your blood pressure checked more often – at least once every year.
